MY FUTURE SELF

Writer: Zander Schaus

Genre: Comedy/Drama

“How would your future self thank you?”

Logline:

Approaching middle age, a man's life is at a standstill. His fiance, frustrated by his unfulfilled potential, devises a plan: she hires an actor to impersonate her fiance from the future, hoping to inspire him to turn his life around.

Synopsis:

Robert is a perpetual loser. His father passed away, he lost his job, and his fiancé is about to break up with him.  His doting mother has coddled him his entire life. His fiancé needs him to step up. Enough with this slacker bullshit.

One night at a bar, Robert encounters Bob, an older man who bears a striking resemblance to him. Bob reveals he is Robert from the future, having traveled back in time to urge Robert to get his life in order to fix Bob’s.

However, it is revealed that Robert's fiancé orchestrated the entire charade. Tired of his self-pity, she hired an actor to impersonate his future self, hoping to jumpstart his life.

Will her elaborate plan succeed? What will happen if Robert discovers his fiance's deception? And to what lengths will "Future Bob" have to go to maintain the ruse? Maybe it isn’t a ruse at all? It might really be his future self!

While we know Robert's life is on the cusp of change, it remains uncertain whether this shift will lead to positive outcomes or plunge him deeper into depression.

How would you future self thank you?
